As long as I can remember I have loved cats and wanted to work with animals. Many a time when I was younger, I would find an injured animal and nurse it back to health. After raising my own family, I had more time to commit to helping animals. I spent some time working for the PDSA as a temporary Animal Care Auxiliary and five years working in a local cattery.
I volunteered at the local RSPCA branch, dealing with small animals and gave my free time to Drusillas, a local children’s zoo. I am a member of Cats Protection, the Orangutan Foundation UK and the WWF. I write letters and sign petitions to improve the welfare of all animals and their environments around the world. Check out my Facebook page :-)
In August 2006, I went on a voluntary placement to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, Sabah, Borneo and stayed for 8 weeks. During my stay I learned about the husbandry, veterinary and paediatric care of Orangutans, and took part in field and nocturnal studies of Orangutans and other mammals. In 2008 I completed a BSc in Ecology and Biogeography, which included two years of Animal Science studies. I studied Animal Welfare, nutrition, behaviour and health.
I have been a member of the UK Carrom club, playing in tournaments and winning trophies. My other interests are conservation, environmental issues, reading, music, learning/studying, DIY and growing my own fruit and vegetables. I enjoy riding my motorbike and learning how to play the drums and guitar.
Owning my own cattery became a dream and when I met Sean, I discovered we shared an ambition to own our own business working with animals. We both love cats and knew we should open a cattery.
